Page Turners introduce ‘Deadly Reunion’

Sue Groh, a member of the Austin Page Turners, talks about this year's chosen author for the city-wide read, Ron Handberg Friday morning at the Austin Public Library.

The mystery of Austin’s next Page Turners author has been revealed.

“Deadly Reunion” by Ron Handberg is the Austin Page Turners book of 2012.

“We are going on quite a U-turn from last year,” said Bonnie Rietz, Page Turners chairwoman.

Handberg was the general manager at WCCO news in the Twin Cities for more than 30 years. He retired in 1989 to write fiction. “Deadly Reunion” is Handberg’s fifth novel since then.

This is the 11th year the Page Turners have sponsored a city-wide book reading. Each year, the sponsored book’s author comes to Austin and gives a lecture along with other activities. Handberg is expected in Austin on April 12, according to the Page Turners.

“We’ve had a wide range of authors,” said Peggy Benzkofer.

About 40 copies of “Deadly Reunion” are available at the Austin Public Library. In addition, the Friends of the Austin Public Library purchased 34 copies for Austin High School, to be used in the Modern Literature class next semester. Philomathian Books will also carry copies of “Deadly Reunion.”
