RCC volleyball team falls in four games

The Riverland volleyball team couldn’t finish off the close games in a four-game loss to St. Cloud Tech in Riverland Gym.

The Blue Devils (1-6 overall, 0-2 MCAC South) dropped a pair of two-point contests as they fell by scores 27-25, 16-25, 27-25, 25-21.

RCC led game one 15-11 early on and it took a 25-24 lead on a kill by Stephanie Loverink. But St. Cloud (2-1 overall, 2-1 MCAC South) scored on a violation by RCC and Anna Kotten made a block kill to set up the game-point.

The Blue Devils led 21-18 in the third game but they fell back to a 25-25 tie and the game ended on a violation by RCC.

“I think it was mistakes by us, but they were very scrappy on some of our big hits,” RCC head coach Helen Jahr said.
