You can bet your sweet patootie that My Sweet Patootie is coming to town.

The Canadian swing-jazz-country group is hitting the Paramount Theatre this Saturday and looking to tell a good story.

“It’s more than just a concert,” said Jennie Germain, Paramount executive director.

My Sweet Patootie consists of former Tanglefoot members Terry Young and Sandra Swannell, who have toured since 1999. The group is currently performing a music hall-style show where they tell stories and jive with the audience between each song, which all tells an even bigger story.

“What we do now is quite a different style of music,” Young said. Though the group stays to its swing roots, Young and Swannell like to experiment with different music. Case in point: People can expect to hear “sets of fiddle tunes with our own interesting arrangement,” according to Young.

“It’s kind of a blend of, if you can think of how James Brown would play a fiddle tune,” he said.

My Sweet Patootie will liven things up starting at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, April 28. Tickets are $12 in advance, $14 at the door and $5 for students.

“It’s a really fun show,” Young said. “It’s kind of a mix of music and vaudeville. We’re quite animated performers, both Sandra and I.”
