Sounds of Austin are making their way to Rochester.

Country singer Adam Wayne Wollenburg and his band landed a spot performing before Frankie Ballard 7 p.m. this Sunday at Mayo Park as part of Down by the Riverside, 2011.

Wollenburg, who released the album “Good Pennies Keep Coming Back” on Origins Music-Nashville, is excited to be playing shows again in his home state.

“It’s just really kind of getting the name out right now and showing people what we’re doing,” Wollenburg said.

The Austin native recently moved back from Nashville and formed a band featuring Randy Barnette (guitar), Jay Kisner (bass), Steven Schmidt (keyboards, harmonica) and Bruce Paine (drums).

The band has spent months practicing and honing its sound, which Wollenburg describes as “AmeriCountry” — a country music style that blends elements from multiple genres.

“We don’t want to be like anyone else,” he said. “We want to put on a show.”

The concert is free.
