A capella group brings music, generosity to Paramount

There’s no charity like show charity.

Tonic Sol-fa, the Emmy award-winning a capella group, is coming back to the Paramount Theatre.

The group’s gained national recognition through a career more than a decade long. Tonic Sol-fa recently won an Emmy for Original Music Composition for a song they performed for Toys for Tots, performed on “The Today Show,” and have been featured in Newsweek and the New York Times. Yet, credentials and all, the group is still giving 25 percent of its ticket sales from their upcoming show, back to the Paramount.

“They love us,” said Scott Anderson, Paramount Theatre operations manager. “They’ve been here many times and they just really like the Paramount.”

The group, which started out of St. Cloud, made a similar offer for last year’s performance. According to Anderson, it’s rare for a group like Tonic Sol-fa to give such a large piece of its ticket sales back to the venue.

“That’s quite a generous offer,” he said.

Tonic Solfa will perform at 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 26. Tickets are $18 in advance, $20 at the door, $15 for students and can be purchased at the Paramount Box Office.
