Frightful fun: Mall offering frightfully good time with haunted house

The Oak Park Mall is creating some spooky fun for families this Halloween.

The mall will host a haunted house from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday night and Halloween. In addition, trick-or-treating will take place from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Thursday, with every storefront containing candy, according to mall manager Shan Kehret.

A Halloween costume contest will also take place at 6:45 p.m. Halloween night. The contest, open to those 16 or younger, will have prizes for every participant, as well as larger prizes for various categories, including movie passes to the CineMagic 7 Theatre inside the mall. There will be two winners for each category, including funniest costume, scariest costume, and others.

The two grand-prize winners will receive eight free movie passes, as well as snack combo certificates and MP3 players, among other prizes.
