Lyle Area Cancer is continuing to thank the community for a strong year of fundraising.

Lyle Area Cancer had plenty of help in raising $227,185 to pledge to the Fifth District Eagles Cancer Telethon to fight cancer last month.

Last week, LAC board members thanked the people of southern Minnesota and northern Iowa for contributing to many events throughout the year and released the totals from each event.

The Lyle Area Cancer Auction on Jan. 15 and 16 capped a year of fundraising that saw Lyle Area Cancer reach $2.4 million raised over 37 years.

This year’s 62nd Eagles Cancer Telethon contributed $300,000 to The Hormel Institute for cancer research. The telethon also supports the cancer research of Mayo Clinic Health System and UMN Masonic Cancer Center.
