Carol June Persinger, 87, of Austin, Minnesota, died Saturday morning, Jan. 16, 2016, at Primrose Assisted Living in Austin.
Born June 9, 1928, in Blue Earth, Minnesota, she was the daughter of Robert and Beulah (Smith) Rendall. She attended Claremont schools. Carol married Lynn J. Persinger on Oct. 25, 1946, in Rochester, Minnesota. To this union, five children were born. Being a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother brought Carol happiness throughout her life. In 1987, they moved to their home on Leech Lake where she loved to entertain her family and take the grandchildren fishing. Carol loved to cook, bake, dance, enjoyed her music, playing cards and would enter an occasional Black Jack Tournament. Carol was a member at Westminster Presbyterian Church of Austin, Minnesota, and in the twilight of her life, she enjoyed watching Christian channels on TV.
She is survived by her children: Sandy (Andy Douglas) Perleberg of Waukegan, Illinois, Diana (Dennis) Oakland of Albert Lea, Nancy Wallin of Albert Lea and Steve (Diane) Persinger of Austin; 15 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Darlene Rendall of Roseville, California.
Carol was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Lynn in 2012; one son, Michael Lynn Persinger in 2006; and one brother Robert Rendall.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 21, 2016, at Westminster Presbyterian Church, Austin, Minnesota, with Pastor Michael Olmsted officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 20, 2016, at Worlein Funeral Home and one hour before the service at the church. Interment will be at Oakwood Cemetery.
