The 15th annual Lucille Johnson Pool Tournament returns to Carpenter, Iowa, this weekend.
The tournament starts in the Carpenter Community Center at 7 p.m. Friday, with registration from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.
The even features 96 teams will play on 20 pool tables, and a few spots were still open as of Wednesday night. Even if people aren’t playing, organizer Michele Douglas invited people to come down for the event.
“[It’s] just an event that’s worth seeing,” she said.
Play resumes at 10 a.m., Saturday, with the doors opening at 9 a.m. The tournament resumes again at noon Sunday.
The 14th annual youth tournament returns at 1 p.m. Sunday with a 1 p.m. registration for children ages 6 to 17.
The pool tournament is an event leading up to the Lyle Area Cancer Auction, which is next Friday and Saturday. Last year, the auction raised $200,000.
