Fire Departments, fundraisers and fair ladies fill the calendar this weekend. And though the forecast looks gloomy, don’t worry, these events are mostly indoors.

‘My Fair Lady’

1. “My Fair Lady,” the classic musical, opens at 7:30 p.m. Friday at the Paramount Theatre, 125 Fourth Ave. NE. Tickets are $15 at the door. Can’t make that date? The musical will also show at 2 and 7 p.m. Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday. No sweat.

Beanbag tourney

2. Plenty of you out there like to play beanbags, so here you go. The Zonta club is holding a beanbag tournament and fundraiser at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Windrift Lounge, 2511 11th St. NE.

Email newsletter signup

Sign up starts at noon and is $15. One-third of all registrations will go toward Zonta, which is a nonprofit organization helping the lives of women.

YMCA Workshop

3. Need something for the kids to do on Saturday? Try the YMCA’s youth art workshop from 12:15 to 2 p.m. Registration is only $5. The YMCA is located at 704 First Drive NW. Check out their website or the Daily Herald calendar for a menagerie of upcoming Y events, too.

Fish fry in Brownsdale

4. Get down on Saturday night, with a good old, small-town fish fry, that is. The Brownsdale Fire Department is holding its annual fish from from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Brownsdale Elementary School, located on the north side of town on Highway 56. Adults eat for $9. Kids 12 and younger eat for $6.50.

Other events

For those who haven’t had enough, check out the Oak Park Mall Saturday morning, where likely more than 100 volunteers will be clearing leaves and trash from drainage ways to prevent phosphorous from building up in our waterways. Perhaps you can help. Out of town, the Hayfield Fire Department has its own ideas, too. The fire department is holding a cancer benefit from 7 a.m. to noon on Sunday.
