Nancy J. Cummings, 69, of Austin, Minnesota, died Monday, Dec. 14, 2015, at her home.

Nancy Jean Jahr was born Feb. 27, 1946, in Austin, Minnesota, the daughter of Orvis and Alice (Smith) Jahr. She grew up in Austin, graduating from Pacelli High School in 1964 and going on to earn her degree from the Austin Area Vocational Technical Institute as a beautician. On July 16, 1966, Nancy was united in marriage to Roger L. Cummings Sr. at Queen of Angels Catholic Church in Austin, where she was a lifetime member. For the first four years of their marriage, Nancy and Roger lived in Booth Bay Harbor, Maine, before returning to Austin. In 1971, she opened Nancy’s Beauty Shop, retiring in the fall of 2015 due to health concerns. In her leisure time, Nancy enjoyed fishing with Roger, reading, travel, restaurants and cooking. She especially loved her time being with and caring for her grandchildren. Nancy will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Survivors include her husband Roger Cummings Sr. of Austin, Minnesota; her children: Chris (Doug) Zahradnik, Roger (Tonya) Cummings Jr. and Jason (Kim) Cummings, all of Austin, Minnesota; six grandchildren: Amanda, Samantha, Mitchell, Kyla, Blake, Lee; and one great-granddaughter Payton; siblings: Richard (JoAnne) Jahr and Marlys (Kenny) Haney, both of Austin, Minnesota, William (Brenda) Jahr of Bock, Minnesota, James (Becky) Jahr of Rochester, Minnesota, Robert (Stephanie) Jahr of Deer River, Minnesota; sister-in-law Cindy (Mark) Ulland of Kasson, Minnesota; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents Orvis and Alice Jahr.

A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 18, 2015, at the Worlein Funeral Home Chapel in Austin. The Cummings family will greet friends from 12 p.m. until the time of the service on Friday at the funeral home. Interment will be in Grandview Cemetery at a later date.
