Alice P. Thorpe, 84, of Waseca, Minnesota, and formerly of Austin, Minnesota, died Sunday, Aug. 23, 2015, at Lake Shore Inn in Waseca where she had resided for approximately nine months.

Alice was born June 26, 1931, in Austin, Minnesota, to Albert and Cora Bell (Dorn) Rubel. She attended and graduated from Austin High School in 1949, and attended college for a short time. She was united in marriage to Bud Thorp on Aug. 5, 1950, in Austin, Minnesota. Alice was a homemaker and worked as a cook for the Old Mill Restaurant in Austin for many years. She was a member of the senior center and St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Waseca. She enjoyed gardening, canning, crocheting, bingo, and playing pfeffer.

Alice is survived by 10 children: Terry Thorpe of Rochester, Minnesota, Jerry Thorpe of Austin, Minnesota, Barb (Dale) Simpson of Truman, Minnesota, Dave (Sue) Thorpe of Austin, Minnesota, Judy (Tom) Hindt of Waseca, Minnesota, Kirk (Deb) Thorpe of Kasson, Minnesota, Suesanne Thorpe of Rochester, Minnesota, Linda (Penny)Thorpe, of Faribault, Minnesota, Penny (Jerry) Roemhildt of Waseca, Minnesota, and Mike Thorpe of Sparta, Wisconsin; 15 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren; and one brother George Rubel of Florida.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Bud; one son Kim Thorpe; and two siblings: Albert Rubel and Lucile Hertel.

Graveside services for Alice P. Thorpe will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 26, 2015, at Oakwood Cemetery in Austin, Minnesota, with the Rev. David Baumgarn officiating. Visitation will be held from 3 to 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 25, 2015, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Waseca, Minnesota, with a memorial service held at 6 p.m. Condolences may be left at www.Hindtfuneralhomes.com.
