Betty Darlene (Hansen) Fierro, 61

Betty Darlene (Hansen) Fierro, 61, of Las Vegas, Nevada, died Thursday, June 11, 2015, at Valley Regional Hospital where she had been since March 1, 2015. She had bravely fought pancreatic cancer for 6-and-a-half years.

Betty was born in Blooming Prairie, Minnesota, the daughter of Carlo and Esther Ann (Ingvaldson) Hansen. After graduating from Blooming Prairie High School in 1971, Betty went on and attended Rochester Vocational School. She was employed at St. Mary’s Hospital as a pharmacy technician and worked in hospitals in Minneapolis, Phoenix, Arizona, Prescott Valley, Arizona, Carson City and Las Vegas, Nevada, at the Nevada Cancer Institute. Betty was united in marriage to David Fierro on Oct. 18, 1975, and welcomed the birth of their son Christopher on Nov. 7, 1976. They lived in Ellendale, Minnesota, for six years and worked in the insurance business. She enjoyed cooking, traveling, cruises, dancing, camping and loved spending time with her cats.

Betty is survived by her husband David Fierro; her son Christopher (fiancée Sabrina Lassalle) of Buckeye, Arizona; mother Esther Ann Hansen of Blooming Prairie, Minnesota; sister Linda Hansen of Blooming Prairie, Minnesota; brother Arthur of Queens, New York, his son Reed of New Briton, Connecticut; Dr. Leslie Hansen of St. Paul, Minnesota; Brian (Peggy) of Fridley, Minnesota; aunt Lorene Ingvaldson of Austin, Minnesota, and by many cousins; David’s brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews; and their best friends Pat and Jim Parlin of Austin, Minnesota.

She was preceded in death by her father Carlo Hansen in 2005; and sister-in-law Mary Hansen.

Memorial services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 18, 2015, at First Lutheran Church in Blooming Prairie with Pastor Heidi Heimgartner officiating. Visitation will be held from 12 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. prior to the service. Interment will be in the First Lutheran Cemetery, Blooming Prairie, Minnesota. The family prefers that memorials be directed to The American Cancer Society.
