Bernice Bertha Tiedemann was born Jan. 20, 1921, in Dexter, Minnesota, the daughter of Fred and Martha (Gerasch) Tiedemann. She graduated from Elkton High School in 1939 and married Raymond W. Kraft on Oct. 6, 1940, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Dexter Township.

The Krafts lived and farmed north of Rose Creek where they raised miniature horses, peacocks and exotic pheasants. Bernice loved to garden on the farm and was an amazing cook and baker. In 2001, they moved to Austin. Among her hobbies, Bernice enjoyed painting, ceramics and crocheting. Ray and Bernice enjoyed square dancing. They traveled over the years, taking trips to Alaska, Switzerland and Scandinavia. She also had a great interest in genealogy and spent a lot of time working on the Tiedemann and Kraft family histories. Bernice was a member of Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church.
