Lois Jean Yocom, 84, of Austin, Minnesota, died peacefully Thursday, May 28, 2015, at her home surrounded by her loving family.

She was born Aug. 15, 1930, to Edward and Elsie (LaMaster) Cummings in Charles City, Iowa. She attended the old Central High School from first through12th grade, graduating in 1949. It is now known as Austin High School. Lois worked at Trowbridge Super Market in Sterling Shopping Center, Piggly Wiggly and Austin Drug. She married Glenn Yocom on Sept. 8, 1951, at First United Methodist Church. A member of the Moose Lodge and First United Methodist Church, she enjoyed playing Bingo, bowling and working in the yard. When she was young, she loved to roller skate.

Survivors include her husband, Glenn Yocom of Austin; a son, Jeffery (Joan) Yocom of Austin; daughter, Jeanne (Todd) Butterfield of Medford; six grandchildren: Quinn, Samantha, Jennifer Yocom, Ashley, Alyssa and Jacob Tschida; brothers: Richard (Dellene) Cummings, Edward (Deanna) Cummings of Austin; sister, Betty Fossey of St. Ansgar, Iowa; many nieces, nephews; other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, June 2, 2015, at Worlein Funeral Home in Austin with the Rev. Marilee Benson officiating. Visitation is one hour prior to the service. The family prefers memorials to donor’s choice. Services were pre-planned with Worlein Funeral Home of Austin in charge of arrangements. Condolences may be expressed to the family online at www.worlein.com.
