Funding for the arts; Austin arts groups get $23K in SEMAC grants

Three Austin groups are getting some financial help for 2015.

The Southeastern Minnesota Arts Council (SEMAC) awarded 35 grants for a total of $227,945 in funding to applicants throughout southeastern Minnesota.

Austin groups received $23,000. The Austin Area Commission for the Arts received a $10,000 Arts and Cultural Heritage grant for Music for the 2015 Austin Artworks Festival. The Austin Community Band received a $3,000 Presenter/Production Assistance Grant for free Summer Concerts in the Park. The Austin Symphony Orchestra received a $10,000 Arts and Cultural Heritage Grant for ASO 59th Season “A Picturesque Travelogue.”

SEMAC’s 2015 grants included 22 Arts and Cultural Heritage grants for $197,325, six Presenter/Production Assistance grants totaling $16,515, and seven Small Towns/Rural Areas grants in the amount of $14,505.

SEMAC is the State Arts Board-designated granting authority for local/regional arts producing and sponsoring organizations and disburses funds allocated for the arts the Minnesota State Legislature. The SEMAC region includes the counties of Mower, Dodge, Fillmore, Freeborn, Goodhue, Houston, Olmsted, Rice, Steele, Wabasha and Winona.
