Sandy Howard, 70, of Austin, Minnesota, bravely and heroically lost her fight/war with a “mean, angry, aggressive cancer.” She was called upon by her heavenly father in the early morning hours of Friday, March 6, 2015, at her home, surrounded by her loved ones.

May “Gramo” be remembered for her braveness and strength through her courageous battle/war … fighter that she was … Sandy will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her.

Sandy was born on July 23, 1944, to Julian (J.C.) and Florence McMullen in Austin, Minnesota. She was married to the late Ralph Howard on June 16, 1962; together they had three beautiful children and shared 52 years of marriage as of last June. Sadly her husband Ralph lost his battle with cancer just one week after their 52nd anniversary. Together they are one.

Sandy enjoyed bowling (in her younger years) and fishing up north with her son Todd and his family. She never knew how to make a small batch of anything for those she blessed with her cooking. She enjoyed time with family and friends and those she made friends with at Cornerstone Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Ralph; brother Michael; and sister Caroline.

Sandy leaves behind her children: Todd (Paula) Howard, Hutchinson, Minnesota, Lori (Eddie) Miller, Austin, Minnesota, and Tricia (Curtis) Lund, Austin, Minnesota; seven grandchildren: Sabrina (Pete) Duda, Beau (Jessica) Howard, Kari, David, and Jaci Miller, Noah and Cassandra Lund; two great grandchildren: Summer and Aubry Rose; brothers-in-law: Dick (Judy) Howard, Texas; Ronald (Kathy) Howard, Austin, Minnesota; and Robert Howard, Montevideo, Minnesota; and many nieces and nephews, neighbors, loved ones and special friends: Twila, Lucy, Eunice, bless you for all you have done.

A special thank you to Ron and Kathy Howard, our family couldn’t have made it through any of this without you and your strength and belief.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, March 16, at 11 a.m. at Clasen-Jordan Mortuary with the Rev. David Simerson officiating. Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be for one hour before the service at Clasen-Jordan Mortuary.
