(6) Blooming Prairie softball team wins state title in fourth-straight state tournament appearance.

The Awesome Blossoms had been to the Class ‘A’ state tournament three years in a row, but they had unfinished business in their fourth-straight trip in 2013. After taking second the previous year, the Awesome Blossoms beat New Life Academy 3-1 in the state title game. BP seniors Shelbi Swenson, Sam Ivers and Jenna Krell all came up with RBIs in BP’s game winning rally in the fifth inning. Swenson allowed just three earned runs and she struck out 22 in 21 innings at state.
