With a strong sound and strong message, Seventh Day Slumber will be returning to Austin along with The Small Town America Tour on Nov. 8 at Cornerstone Church.

The show, the second for Seventh Day Slumber, will be performing with opening acts Havenstance and Submission Red with proceeds going into Desperate Tears, a nonprofit group for suicide awareness and prevention.

“Nobody profits off it,” said Steve Turner, organizer for the event. “All proceeds go back into Desperate Tears.”

Seventh Day Slumber was in Austin two years ago when it performed for the first time for Desperate Tears. The appearance stemmed from an association with Turner who they met the band five years prior during the Lifelight Tour where Turner was security.

“I met them and explained what I was wanting to do,” Turner said. “They later called me up, said they were in the area and wanted to perform.”

The Christian rock act brings more than music.

“They have a very powerful testimony,” Turner said. “(frontman Joseph Rojas) attempted suicide himself. He had a major drug addition and just got sick of robbing and stealing from everybody.”

Tickets for the event are $10 in advance and $12 at the door. Tickets can be purchased at Hy-Vee and Cornerstone Church or by contacting Turner at 507-438-6082.
