Shirley Carol Tapp, 83, died Monday, April 6, 2020. She was a revered wife, mother and grandmother who was surrounded by and felt the well-deserved love of her family right up until her death.

Shirley was born in Lodi Township, Minnesota, and grew up alongside five brothers, enjoying a quiet but eventful life in the country. She married Les Tapp after sweeping him off his feet in mere months and together they made a beautiful and welcoming home in rural Dexter, Minnesota, where they raised five boys of their own. They were known to be avid travelers with well-documented adventures, good friends to others, generous to all, and eye-turning on the dance floor. Shirley was a gifted artist, homemaker and children’s book reader. Her paintings, crafts and

arrangements don both her and her children’s homes. Christmas in her home was magical, with all spaces artfully and beautifully decorated, creating memories for her children and grandchildren that will last their lifetime. Her grandchildren lovingly remember the many, many books that adorned her bookshelves, having been the fortunate recipients of hours of readings from beautifully illustrated books. Shirley was incredibly proud of her sons. She raised them to be respectful, humorous and well-liked men and fathers and took great pride in the many compliments she received about them through the years. It is a joy to know her sense of humor, artistry and selfless and unconditional love will live on through them.
