Larry Lee Brenden, 73, of Austin, Minnesota, passed away on Thursday, Jan. 2, 2020, at Good Samaritan Society in Albert Lea, Minnesota.

Larry was born April 17, 1946, to Ardella Rasmusson in Belgrade, Minnesota. He grew up in Brooten, Minnesota, and graduated from Brooten High School. He then went on to attend the University of Minnesota Duluth, where he graduated with a teaching degree. Following graduation, Larry worked for General Motors Acceptance Corporation in Brainerd, Minnesota. On June 18, 1971, he married Georgia Judstra in Brainerd. Their marriage was blessed with one son, Michael. In 1976, the couple returned to Austin to run their own business. Larry started as an auto salesman at Johnson Murphy Motors, then at Usems, and later as a driver for Asa Motors. He was a member of St. Olaf Lutheran Church, where he was on a committee that landscaped all of the church grounds, along with his wife, Georgia and son, Michael. Larry loved his family and his dog, Charlie. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, and trips to their cabin near Brainerd, where he loved taking slow rides around the lake. Larry will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Survivors include his wife, Georgia Brenden of Austin; son, Michael (Chanel) Brenden of Austin; sister, Dorothy Sparke of Albert Lea; nephew, Paul; and nieces, Janine (Randy) Schumacher and Terri (Warren) Wichmann, both of Albert Lea. He was preceded in death by his mother, Ardella Brenden; and brother-in-law, Carl Sparke.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 9, 2020, at St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Austin with Pastor Mark Niethammer officiating. Visitation will be held from 4-6 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2020, at Worlein Funeral Home in Austin and will continue for one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the church. Memorials are preferred to the St. Olaf Lutheran Church Carpet Fund. Worlein Funeral Home of Austin is assisting the family with arrangements.
