Robert Elwin Meyer, 93

Robert “Bob” Elwin Meyer, 93 of Waltham, Minnesota, passed away peacefully on Thursday, Dec. 26, 2019, at Mayo Clinic Hospital, Saint Marys Campus-Rochester.

Robert was born Dec. 4, 1926, to Arnold and Elenora (Wuertz) Meyer in Waltham, Minnesota. Bob was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Waltham. He attended parochial school for eight years and graduated from Austin High School in 1944. On June 29, 1946, he was

united in marriage to Florence Muller. Together they resided on the family farm near Waltham for 69 years, where they raised four children. Bob enjoyed farming his entire life, but his family was what he truly lived for. He was the one his family turned to in good times and bad, and he remained in that role until his dying day. He enjoyed fishing, watching sports and traveling with Florence whenever possible.

He loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, always ready to talk and provide a cookie or two. In his later years, spending time with his many coffee buddies gave him great joy. Bob was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church. He served on the parochial school board and the church council for many years and especially enjoyed working with others on many building improvement projects. He was very active in his community, serving on the boards of the Hayfield Nursing Home, the Hayfield Lumber Company and the Brownsdale Coop Elevator for many years.

Survivors include his sons, Ronald (Nancy) Meyer of Albert Lea, Minnesota, Gary (Dorothy) Meyer of Waltham and Steven (Diane) Meyer of Waltham; daughter, Debra (Mark) Neubauer of Deforest, Wisconsin; eight grandchildren, Greg (Nikki) Meyer, Doug Meyer, Jennifer (Jeremy) Daum, Keith (Ann) Meyer, Matthew Meyer, Daniel Meyer, Nicole (Matthew) Pfeffer and Jonathan Neubauer; eight great-grandchildren; brother, James (Carolyn) Meyer; brother-in-law, Robert Eggleston; and sister-in-law, Carol Meyer. He was preceded in death by his wife, Florence Meyer; parents, Arnold and Elenora Meyer; brother, Arnold Meyer; and sisters, Irma (Vernon) Mueller and Theadale Eggleston.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2020, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Waltham. Visitation will be held for two hours prior to the service on Tuesday at the church. Interment will be in Trinity Lutheran Church Cemetery in Waltham. Memorials are preferred to Trinity Lutheran Church in Waltham.
