The Riverland women’s basketball team opened its season with a 62-60 win over Dakota State in Riverland Gym Tuesday.

The Blue Devils (1-0 overall) trailed for much of the night, but Megan Shanahan, a St. Charles grad, caught fire from the three-point line down the stretch to give RCC a five-point lead. She finished with 29 points and 17 rebounds.

“It was very nerve racking,” RCC head coach Andrew Kaiser said. We’ve been working hard this whole offseason to rebuild and I’m excited for the rest of the year.”
