Joyce (Distad) Holtan, 93

Joyce (Distad) Holtan, 93, of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, formerly of Austin, Minnesota, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 21, 2019, at The Garden in Coeur d’Alene, where she lived.

She was born July 21, 1926, in Farmer, South Dakota, to Edward and Ella Grace Tugel. She was married to Orin Distad and together they had five children. They later divorced. In 1973, she marred the light of her life, Gerald Holton.

Her favorite pastimes were playing cards with friends and family and going to the casino. She particularly loved playing Bingo with her “Bingo Buddies.” She was a “social butterfly” anywhere she went. She loved traveling back to Minnesota with Jerry to visit family and friends.

She will be dearly missed.

Survivors include her children, Larry (Diane) Distad of Randleman, North Carolina, Nancy (Buck) Jackson of Worley, Idaho, Chuck (Mary) Distad of Rochester, Minnesota, Richard (Linda) Distad of Aitkin, Minnesota, and Duane (Debbie) Distad of Austin; stepson-in-law, Dean Graves of Seattle, Washington; stepdaughter-in-law, Maren (Steve) Noyes of Omak, Washington; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Nadine Tugel of Shawnee, Kansas; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Jerry; siblings, Shirley, Beverly, Jerry and Max; stepdaughter, Sue Graves; and stepson, Richard Holtan.
