Gene Russell Lee, 76, of Austin, Minnesota, passed away Sunday, July 21, 2019, at Grand Meadow Healthcare Center.

Gene Russell Lee, 76

Gene was born May 23, 1943, to Russell and Agnes (Twedell) Lee in Austin. He attended school in Austin. Gene was in the Woodvale SIL’s Program until moving into Briarwood Group Home in 2008. Gene was a very friendly and likeable man. He loved to tell jokes and socialize in the community. He was a member of L.I.F.E. Mower County (ARC) where he was active in Special Olympics bowling and bocce ball leagues over the years. Gene enjoyed going to movies, dining out and bingo. He loved to fish, golf, bowl, watch old cowboy movies, play cards and build with Legos. He went to Camp Winnebago every summer and on various field trips with L.I.F.E. Mower County. Gene worked at Cedar Valley Services for over 40 years at various jobs. He could pretty much tell you who worked there as staff or individuals over those 40 years. He will be missed by his “family” at Briarwood, co-workers and friends at Cedar Valley Services and L.I.F.E. Mower County friends.

Survivors include his sisters, Gloria Langan of Austin and Elaine Sipple of Albert Lea, Minnesota; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Russell and Agnes Lee; two brothers, David and Robert; and brother-in-law, Tom.
