Austin man gets five years probation for heroin sales

Aaron Douglas Lau, 22, of Austin was sentenced to five years of probation for felony third-degree drugs-sale of narcotic on Monday in Mower County District Court. He received credit for 38 days served.

Judge Jeffrey Kritzer issued the sentence.

Court documents state an Austin detective met with a confidential reliable informant (CRI) to make a controlled heroin buy from Lau on Sept. 13. The CRI and his vehicle were searched and he was provided with buy money and an audio transmitter. The CRI was monitored as he met with Lau in Austin and purchased heroin from him. The CRI then met with police at a predetermined location and surrendered 0.65 grams of heroin.

In addition to probation, Lau must follow 15 conditions and perform 40 hours of community service by Oct. 8.
