Southland’s Schmitz takes 34th at state golf meet

Only one area golfer was able to crack the top 40 on the final day of the Minnesota Class A State Golf Meet at Pebble Creek in Becker Wednesday.

Southland sophomore Max Schmitz shot an 86 to finish with a two-day score of 171 to put him in 34th place overall.

Blooming Prairie sophomore Kollyn Alwes shot a 95 to finish with a two-day score of 179 and took 52nd place.

Hayfield freshman Keegan Bronson shot an 84 on Wednesday after shooting a 97 on Tuesday to score a 181 and finish 53rd.

Grand Meadow/LeRoy-Ostrander senior Grant Vikre shot a 99 to finish with a 202 to finish 78th.

Brett Reid, a sophomore from Community Christian, won the meet with a two-day score of 145.

In the Class A girls meet, Hayfield eighth-grader Macy Holton shot a 101 for a two-day score of 201 to finish in 46th place overall.
