Leonard Alvin Meyer, 94, passed away on Friday, March 15, 2019, at Mayo Clinic Health System-Austin.

Leonard was born April 4, 1924, in Wells, Minnesota, to Ewald and Lillian (Brandt) Meyer. He had three brothers and one sister: Herb, Norb, Marvin and Adoris.

On March 31, 1945, Leonard was united in marriage to Ardell Anderson. Together they had five boys.

Leonard owned and operated Meyer’s Locker in Oakland, Minnesota, until he retired. He had a love for fishing and being with family and friends.

Leonard is survived by his sons, Leonard S. (Barb) Meyer, Oakland, and Darrell (Pam) Meyer, Albert Lea, Minnesota; daughters-in-law, Linda Meyer, Austin, Minnesota, and Jill Brua, California; grandchildren, Vicky Meyer, Ricky Meyer, Philip Meyer, Dustin Meyer, Chad Meyer, Kristin Swanson, Adam Meyer and Bridget McCarthy; and many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ewald and Lillian Meyer; wife, Ardell; sons, Duane, Bruce and Robert; and granddaughter, Brenda.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 21, 2019, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Austin with Pastor James Groleau officiating. Friends may call one hour before the service on Thursday at the church. Interment will be in Hillcrest Cemetery in Albert Lea. Condolences may be left online at www.mayerfh.com.
