Alumni Update: Hart sets HR mark for Mavs

BASEBALL

Lyle grad Jordan Hart was named NSIC Player of the Week and he tied the Minnesota State University career home run record with his 29th career home run recently.

Hart, a senior outfielder for the Mavs, went 7-for-10 in the first three games of his team’s trip to Florida and he racked up six RBIs.

Through eight games, Hart was hitting .485 with four homers, four doubles and 12 RBIs for the Mavs (6-2 overall).


BASKETBALL

Austin grad Duoth Gach was named first team All-Conference after his freshman season at North Dakota State College of Science.

Gach averaged 15.1 points and 4.3 rebounds per game, while shooting 47 percent from the field and 41 percent on three-pointers for the Wildcats, who finished 26-6 overall.

Austin native Both Gach had 12 points and four assists for the University of Utah in a 71-63 loss to Colorado recently.

The Utes (15-13 overall) will begin PAC-12 Tournament play next week.

Pacelli grad Sarah Holtz was named to the All-American Rivers Conference second team recently.

Holtz, who plays for Luther, finished seventh at 13 points per game in the conference and her 6.8 rebounds per game were sixth best in the conference. 

The Norse advanced to the semifinal round for the 11th time in the 20-year history of the tournament. Luther lost in the semifinals to Wartburg 78-67 on Feb. 21. Holtz had 11 points and 12 rebounds in the loss.

Grand Meadow grad Rio Landers was named honorable mention on the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference.

Landers, a junior, averaged 10.7 points per game and she led the University of Northwestern with 7.1 rebounds per game.


GYMNASTICS

Austin grad Maddie Mullenbach has been a consistent presence for the UW-Stout gymnastics team this season.

Mullenbach is averaging a 9.219 on vault, a 9.146 on floor and a 9.250 on beam for the Blue Devils, who will compete in the WIAC Meet Saturday.
