Duplicate Bridge

Tuesday, Dec. 12, at the Mower County Senior Center, 12 teams playing. First, Joyce Crowe and Millie Seiver; second, Edna Knobbe and Kathy Liesen; third, Vandy Newman and Bud Higgins;  fourth,  Lorraine Lippert and Dave Solomonson; fifth, John Liesen and Rick Stroup.

Wednesday, Dec. 13, 13 teams played at the Mower County Senior Center. First, John Laurie and Dave Ring; second, Loren Cleland and Bud Higgins; third, Tom Flaherty and Stan Schultz; fourth place, Chuck Bonerman and John Karnes; fifth place, Lorraine Quinlivan and Julie Prochnow; sixth place (tie), Edna Knobbe and Cleo Osmundson and Eunice Michaelis and Larry Crowe.

Players were from Austin, Albert Lea, Adams and Rose Creek. All bridge players are encouraged to join us at 12:30 p.m. on Tuesdays and noon on Wednesdays.

Y’s Womens Club

Y’s Womens Club held its Christmas party on Dec.14 at the Hormel Historic Home. A potluck supper was enjoyed. We especially enjoyed the holiday music of the Austinaires under the direction of Brian Johnson.  They are a delightful group and we so appreciated their time spent with us.

A short business meeting followed.  Anita Ulwelling announced the proceeds from the luncheon card party sponsored by the Y’s Women in November was given the Hormel Home.  Members contributed to the Hy Vee Feed A Family Program.

The next meeting will be at noon Jan. 11 at the Old Mill.
