Jerome Goergen

Jerome was born on July 1, 1929, in Stacyville, Iowa, to Isidore and Mary (Schwartz) Goergen. He attended Johnsburg Grade School and Adams High School. Jerome (Jerry) served honorably in the Korean War from May 19, 1953, to April 20, 1955. On June 26, 1957, Jerry married Mary Ann Lord of Caledonia, Minnesota. They made their home in Austin their entire married life, and in June 2017, they celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. It was a quiet celebration with family, as Jerry was diagnosed with Myelodysplastic syndrome in 2007 and for the past year he silently suffered with leukemia. Jerry was a loving husband, father, and friend to many, and was always willing to help others with his many talents when he could. He was a faithful member of St. Augustine Catholic Church in Austin, a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus, a member of American Legion Post 91, and a member of the Eagles Aerie 703 for many years.
