Atlanta Peterson Zech, 98 formerly of Austin, Minnesota, died Monday, Oct. 3, 2016, at St. Gertrude’s Health Center in Shakopee, Minnesota.

L. Atlanta Peterson Zech was born Sept. 29, 1918, at Oakland, Minnesota, the daughter of Bernard and Sadie (Anderson) Berg. Atlanta attended school at Oakland, Minnesota, and was married to Orvel Peterson. After Orvel’s death, she was married to Gordon Zech.

Atlanta was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church. She enjoyed cooking, gardening and bell choir. She loved spending time with her family and their visits.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Orvel Peterson, father, Bernard Berg, mother, Sadie Berg Legreid, brothers, Ralph and Don Berg and her second husband, Gordon Zech.

Atlanta is survived by sons and daughters-in-law: Kenneth and Gail Peterson, Austin, Minnesota, Wayne and Mary Peterson, Austin, Minnesota, Dean and Terri Peterson, Austin, Minnesota; daughters and sons-in-law: Susan and Jeff Lewis, Detroit Lakes, Minnesota, and Karen and Bill Kath, Chaska, Minnesota; step children: Donald Zech, Grand Rapids, Michigna, Ruth Ann Guenther, Grand Rapids, Michigan, and Karen Zech, Austin, Minnesota; 10 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren with another one on the way in December.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 7 at Clasen-Jordan Mortuary with the Reverend Peter Soli officiating. Interment will be at Grandview Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. Friday until the time of the service at Clasen-Jordan Mortuary.
