Loyd Charles VanBuskirk, 52, of rural Brownsdale, Minnesota, died Saturday evening, Nov. 21, 2015, at his home.

He was born July 31, 1963, in Austin, Minnesota, the son of Owen and Lillian (Chapman) VanBuskirk. He attended Hayfield High School, graduating in 1981. He was united in marriage to Kimberle Naatz on Oct. 13, 1984, in Waltham, Minnesota. The couple had two sons, Steven and Dylan. They were later divorced. Loyd and Tina Arndt later became parents to Lilly VanBuskirk. Lilly brought tremendous added joy to the VanBuskirk family. Loyd farmed the farm where he was born and raised and was the owner of Commercial Services of Sargeant, Minnesota, from 1993 to 2005. Loyd also owned Dexter Auto from 2006 to 2012. In 2008, Loyd began patenting farm machinery attachments and held the patents on 14 different attachments, along with his business partner, Brian Meldahl and his sons. In 2015, they opened L & B Manufacturing Inc., which Loyd’s sons continue to operate today. Loyd enjoyed prairie dog hunting, drag racing, mechanics and building things as well as fishing, boating and tubing. He was a faithful member of St. John’s Lutheran Church of Sargeant.

Survivors include his mother, Lillian VanBuskirk of St. Ansgar, Iowa; two sons: Steven VanBuskirk and Dylan VanBuskirk and a daughter, Lilly VanBuskirk all of Brownsdale; five brothers: Harry (Beverly) VanBuskirk of Sargeant, Wayne VanBuskirk of Rochester, Roy VanBuskirk of Chester, Iowa, Gary (Laura) VanBuskirk of Rose Creek, and Paul VanBuskirk of Swea City, Iowa; two sisters: Lois Frieden of Bemidji, and Linda (Wayne) Jorgenson of Sargeant; many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Owen VanBuskirk; two brothers: John and Harold VanBuskirk; and a brother-in-law, Virgil Frieden.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Nov. 25, 2015, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 28959 630th Avenue, Sargeant, Minnesota, with Pastor Collin Duling officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held at the Worlein Funeral Home in Austin, Minnesota on Tuesday, Nov. 24, 2015, from 4 to 7 p.m., and for one hour prior to the church on Wednesday. Memorials should be directed to St. John’s Lutheran Church, Sargeant. Services prearranged and performed by Worlein Funeral Home of Austin.
