Virginia “DeeDee” Wright, 83, of Plainview and formerly of Austin, passed away on Sunday afternoon, Dec. 7, 2014, at St. Isidore Health Center of Greenwood Prairie in Plainview.

Virginia Louise Wright was born Aug. 23, 1931, in Rochester, to Joe and Iva (Smith) Wright. She graduated in 1949 from Rochester High School. DeeDee married Ernest Durst and was later divorced.
DeeDee was a bookkeeper and lived in Phoenix, Arizona, Rochester and Austin, Minnesota, then moved back to Rochester and moved to Plainview in 2013. She loved to spend time going to antique and garage sales and auctions. She enjoyed traveling, going to casinos, playing bingo and poker. DeeDee loved to drive her electric scooter, and especially enjoyed spending time with her grandkids.
DeeDee is survived by her two daughters: Michelle “Shelly” (John) O’Neill of Millville, and Cheri (Shawn Dow) Durst of Fountain Hills, Arizona; two grandchildren: Sydney and Nora O’Neill; two sisters: Barbara (Jerry) Riddle of Houston, Texas, and Patricia (Dr. William) Peterson of Noblesville, Indiana; and one brother, Richard (Mavis) Wright of Dallas, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
The memorial service for Ms. Wright will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 12, at Schleicher Funeral Homes, Plainview Chapel in Plainview with Pastor John Curtiss officiating. Private family burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Rochester at 1:30 p.m. on Friday.
