Seventh-graders at Ellis Middle School received copies of the U.S. Constitution and the Declaration of Independence Day as they filed into the auditorium to hear attorney Craig Byram speaks about Liberty Day. Members of the Lion’s Club passed out the booklets and helped set up the presentation, which has been going on since the 1980s. Nepp was hopeful that the students would learn from the assembly and hoped they would take the booklets home and read through them.
