The Riverland Community College baseball team split a doubleheader at Western Wisconsin Tech. in La Crosse Tuesday.

The Blue Devils lost the first game 3-2 and won the nightcap 2-1.

Zach Nelson scattered five hits and struck out five in the win and Brock Rude allowed six hits and one earned run in the loss for RCC (11-6 overall).

“Our pitching performances were pretty good,” RCC assistant coach Brian Voigt said. “We pitched ahead and we kept their hitters off balanced. Our hitting was inconsistent and we didn’t get our timely hitting.”
