Roy Hilton Anderson, 85, of Austin, Minn. died Saturday, Aug. 24, 2013 at Thorne Crest Retirement Community in Albert Lea.

Roy was born on April 11, 1928, to Harold and Hilma Anderson in Virginia, Minn. He attended Mountain Iron High School and joined the United States Marine Corp after graduation. Roy attended Virginia Junior College and graduated from the University of Minnesota with a degree in Industrial Arts. Roy taught Industrial Arts for two years in Maple Lake, Minn. and one year in Watertown, Minn., before settling in Austin, where he taught until his retirement. In his retirement he enjoyed spending time in the hill country of Texas. He was a long time member the American Legion and the Elks Club.
Roy is survived by his wife of 66 years: Joyce (Mardy) Anderson, Austin, Minn.; children: Linda Esse, Albert Lea, Minn.; David (Gwen) Anderson, Gardnerville, Nev.; Robert (Gina) Anderson, Austin, Minn.; Steven Anderson, Cedar Rapids, Iowa; Daniel Anderson, Wis.; Joel Anderson, Albert Lea, Minn.; 11 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
At his request, no services will be held.
