The Lord has called upon another one of his beloved sons. James Allen Ross, 52, of Corpus Christi, Texas, passed away early Monday morning on June 3, 2013.

James was born on Jan. 11, 1961, in Austin, Minn., to George M. Ross and Ruth E. Ross.

James left the cold winters of Minnesota so he could enjoy his true passion of working and playing in a comfortable climate, which is why he moved to Corpus Christi, where he made his home since 1981. James was a certified AAA Mechanic at Creveling Dodge for about six years before deciding to open his own mechanic shop. This allowed him to practice another one of his passions, racing and mud dragging. Soon after, he started his own towing and recovery company, which led to him working and helping at Absolute Wrecker and Body Shop for about seven years. Then, like clockwork, he wanted to continue to be his own boss. He opened and formed his own construction company, Ross 1 Construction, which is what he was doing when he passed away. James was blessed with the opportunity to make a pilgrimage to the Vatican and had the honor of meeting Pope Benedict. He was very much involved with the Catholic Church, as well as mentoring young adults as an instructor at weekend retreat classes.

James is survived by his mother, Ruth Ross; two sisters, Diana Ross (her family, Minoc, Kathy, MeShet, ScabbyRobeParnett), and Deb McCulloch and husband, Blake; three nephews: Aaron, Adam and Andrew; brother, George Ross and wife, Julia; three more nephews: Derrick Stafford, Joshua Smith and George Ross. James also has another family that he was a part of and who considered him as a family member. The Villareals are truly honored to have known such a wonderful man. He will be missed greatly by many friends and lives he touched. James was preceded in death by his father, George Ross and his paternal and maternal grandparents.

A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 24, 2013, at the Worlein Funeral Home Chapel in Austin, Minn., with Rev. Forrest Miller officiating.
