Suspect is in custody

NORTHWOOD, Iowa — Authorities are investigating a reported stabbing at Swensrud Park in Northwood.

A Worth County Sheriff’s Office news release states a suspect is in custody and there is no further threat to the public.

It is not clear whether the victim was mortally wounded.

Law enforcement said further information will soon be released.

Officers with the Northwood Police Department, Worth County Sheriff’s Office and Iowa State Patrol were at the park looking at evidence and taking photographs. The park is blocked off from several entrances.

Within the park, a separate area is marked off, and multiple items are strewn about the grass. There are also several muddy tire tracks nearby.
