Laverne W. Leidall, 92, of Lyle, Minn., died Saturday morning, July 27, 2013, at the Good Samaritan Society in St. Ansgar, Iowa.

Laverne was born May 30, 1921, in Lyle to Walter and Myrtle Leidall. On Aug. 21, 1941, he married June M. Jorgenson in Lyle. The couple had five children. Laverne worked at Hormel Foods for 43 years and was the owner of Leidall Motor Sales in Lyle for many years. A member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Lyle, Laverne belonged to the Lion’s Club, Sons of Norway, Lyle Development Committee and was a notary public and voting clerk in Lyle. He enjoyed traveling to Norway and Europe and spending time with his wonderful children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Laverne was a faithful and loving husband to June for 71 years.

Survivors include his son, Todd (Melody) Leidall of Maple Grove, Minn.; daughters, Jodi (Bob) Kaput of Lyle, Diane (Jim) Horgen of St. Ansgar, Jan (John) Coumbe of Park Rapids, Minn.; 15 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; a sister Avis Johnson of Austin, Minn.; sisters-in-law Donna Peterson and A.J. Jennings, both of the Twin Cities; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, June; son, Bruce; and a brother, Norman.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 4, 2013, at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Lyle. Visitation will be one hour before the service at the church. Interment will be in Six Mile Grove Cemetery, rural Lyle. Memorials are preferred to Lyle First Responders or the Lyle Cancer Telethon.
