Marlyn D. Haarstad, 65, of McGregor, formerly of Dexter, Minn., died Wednesday, April 24, 2013, at the Essentia Health, St. Mary’s Medical Center in Duluth, Minn.

Marlyn was born May 19, 1947, in Austin, Minn. the son of Otto and Claudene (Carlson) Haarstad. He grew up and attended schools in the Elkton area. He married Carol Puncochar in New Prague. They made their home in Dexter and moved to McGregor in 1978.

He worked as a welder Yukon Corp. and Star Machine and Tool. He then started his own business, MARS Prop Repair and Fabricating. He operated that until his death. He married Jody Lynn Lambertus on Aug. 1, 1998, in McGregor. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and his family was very important to him.

He is survived by his wife: Jody Haarstad of McGregor; children and spouses: Paula and Kevin Mortenson of Dexter; Nichole and Tim Tierney of McGregor; Candice and Austin Fredrickson of McGregor; 10 grandchildren; one brother: Odean (Allienne) Haarstad of Dexter.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Andrew and niece Robyn.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 2, 2013, at 1 p.m. from Grace Lutheran Church near McGregor with the Rev. Erika Foss officiating. Burial will be in the Pine Needle Cemetery.
