Corey is no longer director

Cheryl Corey will no longer be the executive director of the Austin Convention and Visitors Bureau.

The CVB board of directors issued a statement Tuesday after its monthly meeting confirming a change in CVB leadership and reaffirming its commitment to “re-establish its core mission.”

The board said in the statement that a new executive director is in line with Vision 2020 efforts and revamping would keep the CVB “moving forward with the current revitalization of the city of Austin.”

The board will post the executive director position soon, and the CVB should have new leadership by mid-June.

The CVB’s tourism director, Heidi Stegenga, took a job in Iowa in early April.

Board chairman Dustin Heckman said there was no further information available.
