Richard ‘Dick’ C. Haney, 71

Richard “Dick” C. Haney, 71, of Austin, died Saturday morning, Feb. 4, 2012, at the Adams Health Care Center in Adams, Minn.

He was born July 22, 1940, in Austin, the son of Irven and Gladys (Cunningham) Haney. On Jan. 20, 1962, he was united in marriage to Nancy Bawek at Crane Chapel in Austin. Dick was a lifelong resident of Austin and was employed by Austin Utilities for more than 33 years. He enjoyed hunting, reading, doing carpentry work and spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Nancy Haney of Austin; three children, Scott (Verlys) Haney of Englewood, Fla., Kimberly (Dan) Wallerstedt of Rio, Ill. and Toni (Ric) Berg of Austin; eight grandchildren, Seth, Cody, Jessi, Cade, Will, Andrea, Aaron and Joe; three great-grandchildren, Kaycee, Jaelynn and James; many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Irvan and Gladys Haney and four sisters, Grace, Doris, Shirley and Audrey.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 8, at the Worlein Funeral Home Chapel in Austin. Interment will follow the service in Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 7, and for one hour prior to the service on Wednesday. Memorials are preferred to the donor’s choice.
