Howard L. Engle, 67
Howard L. Engle, 67, of Maple Springs, rural Lake City, Minn., died on Dec. 28, 2008 at St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center in Wabasha, Minn.
He was born May 8, 1941 in Preston, Minn., the son of Anona and Almeda (Bremseth) Engle. He married Judy Hemann March 9, 1968 in Harvard, Ill. They later divorced. Howard worked as a carpenter in commercial construction for several companies throughout southern and southeastern Minnesota. He moved to Maple Springs in 1988. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved to fish and hunt. He enjoyed gardening, especially growing tomatoes. He also enjoyed cooking and baking and playing cards and visiting with his friends.
Howard is survived by daughters, Laura (Steve) Zahradnik, Rose Creek, Minn., Vanessa (Billy) Langham, Monte Vallo, Ala.; three grandchildren, Megan and Bryce Zahradnik and Katlynn Langham; mother, Almeda Engle, Austin; sister, Nadine (Al) Monson, Belvidere, Ill.; nieces and nephews and special friend, Mary Johnson, Wabasha.
His father, Anona Engle, preceded him in death.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2008 at 1:30 p.m. at the Abbott Funeral Home in Wabasha with the Reverend LeRoy Haynes officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home one hour before the service. Memorials are preferred to the family. Personal messages may be sent to the family at www.abbottfh.com.
