Laughin’ it up at the Nature Center

Things may get a little weird at the Jay C. Hormel Nature Center Thursday.

Tom Pease

Local humorist and naturalist Tom Pease will entertain seniors and families throughout the day with his performances — another one of the nature center’s 40th anniversary celebrations this summer.

Starting 9 a.m. Aug. 18, Pease will have music and laughter for seniors, followed by two trail tours around the nature center, at 9:45 and 10:30 a.m. It’s recommended to register for the events, as things may fill up. And though Pease has experience rousing laughter from kids, he can get the mature holding their stomach’s, too, said Larry Dolphin, nature center director.

“He really involves the people, young and old,” he said. “He can move you.”

Dolphin added Pease ties in songs and content about nature and conservation with his high energy, something fitting for nature center visitors.

At 1:30, Pease will entertain again for families and children. For more information or to reserve a spot for the free event, call the Jay C. Hormel Nature Center at 437-7519.
