M. Jane (Ryan) Headington, 97

M. Jane (Ryan) Headington, age 97, of Austin, Minnesota, passed away on Wednesday, March 13, 2024, at home surrounded by her family. Jane was born on the family farm near Plymouth Rock, Iowa, on December 22, 1926, to Frank and Jule (Daley) Ryan. She was the youngest of ten children. On October 4, 1947, Jane was united in marriage to Ron Headington. After Ron finished college at the University of Iowa, the family moved to Austin, Minnesota, where he was employed by Hormel Foods. After Ron’s death in 1973, Jane went to work part-time at the YMCA and remained there for over 20 years. Jane was a longtime member of St. Augustine’s Catholic Church in Austin and active in the quilting group at St. Edward’s. She was an avid Iowa Hawkeyes fan which her grandchildren (Minnesota fans) can heartily attest to. Jane truly loved going to sporting events her son, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren played in whether they were in Austin or traveling to games out of town. Jane enjoyed sewing, quilting, card club, golfing, fishing, and family vacations.

Jane is survived by her children, Sherry (Steve) Hines of Harmony, Minnesota, Roxy (Connie) Headington of Houston, Texas, Julie Holland of Austin, Minnesota, Deb Christopherson of Austin, Minnesota, and Jim (Michele) Headington of Mankato, Minnesota; eight grandchildren, Joel (Amy) Hines of Chatfield, Minnesota, Jake (Sarah) Hines of Rosemount, Minnesota, Matt Christopherson of Austin, Minnesota, Corey (Staci) Christopherson of Chanhassen, Minnesota, Darrin (Laura) Christopherson of Rochester, Minnesota, Lynn (Joshua) Didier of Watertown, Minnesota, Kelly (Andrew) Sweere of Bloomington, Minnesota, and Lexii (Clay) Henderson of Houston, Texas; and 14 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ron Headington; parents, Frank and Jule Ryan; three brothers, Harold, Ed, and Layle Ryan; six sisters, Phyllis McCabe, Mae Gossman, Doris Carr, Fran Ryan, Donna Whalen, and Anna Grace DeCou; and son-in-law, Ed Christopherson.

The family wishes to thank the staff members of St. Croix Hospice for their compassionate care.
