Knights use second half rally to knock off Rebels

ROCHESTER – Southland senior Noah Bauer went out with a strong effort, but it wasn’t enough as the No. 4 seeded Rebels had their season come to an end in a 74-63 loss to No. 5 Kingsland (23-5 overall) in a Section 1A Tournament quarterfinal Monday.

Bauer poured in 21 points and he grabbed four steals in the loss for the No. 4 Rebels (21-6 overall).

After trailing 44-37, Southland rallied to tie the game at 46 after Bauer hit a jump shot, but the Knights responded with a 16-2 run to go up 62-48 with 7:37 left.

In the first half, Kingsland went up 33-26 when Courtland Drury-Deboer connected on a three pointer, but the Rebels scored the last seven points of the half to tie the game. Andrew Timm tied things up at 33 when he hit a wing three to beat the halftime buzzer for Southland.

Sam Boe finished with nine points and eight rebounds for Southland.
