Bruins goalie Wiemken commits to Bemidji State

Austin Bruins goalie Trent Wiemken has announced his commitment to continue his education and play NCAA Division I hockey at Bemidji State University. Wiemken becomes the fourth Bruin this season to make his College Commitment.

“I am proud and honored to announce my commitment to play Division I hockey and further my education at Bemidji State University” said Wiemken. “I’d like to thank my family, friends, coaches, and teammates who have helped me along the way.”

A native of Fargo, North Dakota, Wiemken is in his second season with the Bruins and in the NAHL. For his career, Wiemken has appeared in 45 career games and is sporting a Goals Against Average (GAA) of 1.80 and a Save Percentage (SV%) of .927. Wiemken also backstopped the Bruins to their first Central Division Title since 2015 last season and helped lead the Bruins to the Robertson Cup final in 11 Robertson Cup Playoff Games. This season, Wiemken currently leads the NAHL with a 1.53 GAA and is second among qualifying goalies with a .936 SV%.

Bemidji State University is a public university in Bemidji, Minnesota. Founded as a preparatory institution for teachers in 1919, it provides higher education to north-central Minnesota. It is part of the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities system. The Beavers are members of the Central Collegiate Hockey Association (CCHA) and play their games out of the Sandford Center in Bemidji.
