Cumulative Mower County COVID-19 cases reach 868

The Minnesota Department of Health on Friday reported 21 new cases of COVID-19 in Mower County, bringing the county’s cumulative total to 868.

This number includes the positive cases identified from last weekend’s testing event at the Mower County Fairgrounds. Of the 2.059 tests conducted during the event, 39 came back positive for COVID-19.

Mower County still ranks ninth in cumulative COVID-19 cases among Minnesota counties.

Neighboring counties of Dodge, Fillmore, Freeborn, Olmsted and Steele report 70, 24, 265, 970 and 209 cumulative cases respectively.

The MDH also reported on Friday an additional 498 confirmed cases throughout the state, raising the total to 34,616. The MDH estimates 30,008 of those cases no longer need isolation.

The MDH also reported five deaths on Friday, bringing the state’s death toll to 1,411.
