Jo Anne Elleby Ulwelling, 64, of Rose Creek, Minnesota, died Monday, Feb. 18, 2019, at Mayo Clinic Hospital, St. Marys Campus-Rochester.

Jo Anne was born Dec. 11, 1954, in Sandwich, Illinois, to Lyle and Iva (Walters) Elleby. She grew up in Newark, Illinois. She attended Lisbon Elementary and graduated from Lisbon High School. Jo Anne became involved in many sports; however, it was in shotput where she shined, holding a state record. She enjoyed other activities, including 4-H and singing in Mt. Movers with her friend, Linda Orton.

On Nov. 11, 1996, she was united in marriage to Robert Ulwelling at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Rose Creek, where they made their home on the family farm.

Jo Anne and Robert spent their time together fishing, raising beef cattle, traveling, going to tractor shows, collecting and restoring antique tractors. The last 24 years after marrying Robert were the happiest her family had ever seen her.

Jo Anne worked in health service for most of her life. She was kind, considerate and liked helping everyone. She liked raising animals of any type, but her cats were her favorite. She enjoyed growing and arranging flowers. Her brother, Ed, and his wife, Connie, held a special place in Jo Anne’s heart.

Jo Anne was a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church and numerous Oliver and International Harvester tractor clubs.

Jo Anne is survived by her husband, Robert Ulwelling, Rose Creek; brothers, Edwin (Connie) Elleby, Austin, Minnesota, and Christian (Mary) Elleby, Hayward, Minnesota; brothers-in law, Paul Ulwelling, Dexter, Minnesota, Donald (Carol) Ulwelling, Rose Creek, and Gerald (Betty) Ulwelling, Meridian, Idaho; nephews, Jim, Duluth, Minnesota, Eric (Ann) Elleby, Cook, Minnesota, and Jordan (Marta) Elleby Charleston, South Carolina; and numerous other nieces and nephews.

Jo Anne was preceded in death by her parents, Lyle and Iva Elleby; and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, John and Joanne Ulwelling.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 25, 2019, at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Rose Creek with Father Swaminatha Pothireddy officiating. Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 24, 2019, at Mayer Funeral Home and for one hour prior to the service on Monday. Interment will be in St. Peter’s Catholic Cemetery.
